Prisons are built with stones of Law, Brothels with bricks of Religion
In the pervasive age of digital totalitarianism, our freedom of expression is being curbed, and subjected to systemic erasure by the bourgeoisie with the misfortune of many authors turning to self-censorship. Possessing untapped potential at our fingertips, our youth is fruitlessly wasting time on purisits that do not alleviate their existential condition. Through the algorithmic adaption of the human mind, we have a followed a path of decadence where feelings and emotions are dictated by the whims of an abstract corporate entity. Nothing is felt in the brainrot economy, only AI generated absurdist visuals that temporarily distract us from the harrowing self-doubt about our worth in the larger cosmic framework. The youth wants comforting explanation to them, however, I refuse such luxuries. One must, through wit and resilience, pave the paths through the fog that shrounds our psyche. Through his work — raw, viscreal and uncensored in its unflinching audacity — I intend to shock our so-cherished bourgeoisie sensibilities in age of sanitised aesthetics heralded on platforms as lurid as Instagram. To quote Oshima:
Nothing that is expressed is obscene; what is obscene is what is hidden
The concept of “obscenity” is tested when we dare to look at something that we desire to see but have forbidden ourselves to look at. When we feel that everything has been revealed, “obscenity” disappears and there is a certain liberation. When that which one had wanted to see isn’t sufficiently revealed, however, the taboo remains, the feeling of “obscenity” stays, and an even greater “obscenity” comes into being.
